From its location on 8 fully built up acres of land in Ghana’s Industrial Port City of Tema, Tropical Cable & Conductor Limited (TCCL), has made impressive progress. Tropical Cable and Conductor Limited (TCCL) has a production capacity currently at 8,000 tonnes of Copper and Aluminium per annum. This phenomenal growth has been achieved by manufacturing world class quality conductors and cables for West Africa’s Energy, Real Estate, Construction and Mining sectors. Customers include the utilities (Electricity Company of Ghana, Volta River Authority, Ghana Telecom), real estate developers, mines, electrical contractors and a nationwide distributor network.

On incorporation in 1997, to meet the growing demand for cables and conductors in the West African Sub region and beyond, the Tropical Cable & Conductor Limited (TCCL) became the first wholly Ghanaian owned manufacturer in this technologically challenging area.

In 2003, the company was the first cable manufacturing company to be listed in the prestigious Ghana Club 100, a listing of Ghana’s top 100 companies, and has continued to feature regularly on that list.

In 2004, the quest for excellence in cable manufacturing was further enhanced with the certification of the quality management system to the internationally acclaimed ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Certification. Again, TCCL was the first cable manufacturer in West Africa to achieve certification.

TCCL’s excellent technical and marketing expertise have seen its market share increase steadily in the highly competitive market. As a result of superior understanding of customers’ needs, the company strategically commissioned new armouring lines in 2006 for the manufacture of Underground Power Cables. The company was the first manufacturer of Armoured cables in Ghana.

In 2007, an Aluminium Rod Manufacturing subsidiary, Western Rod & Wire Limited was set up, and remains the only Aluminium Rod Manufacturing plant in West Africa.

In 2015, Tropical Cable and Conductor Limited (TCCL) became the first cable manufacturer in Ghana to commence compounding of its own insulation and sheathing materials.

From a modern factory located in Tema, the industrial heart of Ghana, the company manufactures Aluminium and Copper Overhead Line Conductors and a wide range of Insulated Cables for both electrical and telecommunication purposes.
